The Gryphon Project has won the 2010 BC Book Prize's Sheila A. Egoff Children's Literature Prize!

The Gryphon Project is a finalist for the 2010 BC Book Prize's Sheila A. Egoff Children's Literature Prize! The BC Book Awards celebrate the achievements of British Columbia writers. More information here...
The Gryphon Project has also been nominated for the Canadian Library Association Young Adult Book Award. The award recognizes an author of an outstanding English-language Canadian work of fiction that appeals to young adults between the ages of 13 and 18. More information here...

The Gryphon Project - a new science fiction novel by Carrie Mac - coming Summer 2009, published by Penguin Books.
"Phoenix envies her brother Gryphon. The daredevil, gangrunning sports hero has all of his recons left: three more chances at life. But she is left with only one, and learns that her beloved brother is responsible for one of her deaths. When Gryphon himself has an accident, the governing body Chrysalis refuses to recon him, deeming his death to be a suicide. His gang’s code of silence makes it difficult to find out the details, but Phoenix is determined to unravel the mystery and save her brother."
In the meantime, Storm has been shortlisted for the Canadian Library Association Young Adult Book Award for 2008. The award recognizes an author of an outstanding English language Canadian book which appeals to young adults between the ages of 13 and 18.
Pain & Wastings has also been selected as an American Library Association Quick Pick for 2008.

Carrie will be participating in one of the Vancouver Public Library's On-Line Chat, July 9th, part of the British Columbia Library Associations Teen Summer Reading Club, designed to promote and encourage younger readers. For more information visit their website.
Carrie will also be a part of the 12th annual Saskatchewan Festival of Words in Moosejaw, Saskatchewan July 16-19th, 2008. The festival celebrates Canadian writers and promotes literacy, lifelong reading and creative writing. For more information visit their website. |
